Each hands-on healing session can be tailored to your needs by drawing from training in therapeutic massage, oncology massage, lymphatic drainage, craniosacral therapy, maternity massage, reflexology, acupressure, meditation, Reiki, chakra balancing and sound healing. I have many years’ experience working with those who have, or have ever had, cancer.
Oncology Massage
Cancer treatment, whether through chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, or immunotherapy, changes the body forever. Being trained in oncology massage means the therapist understands the physical and emotional effects of cancer treatment, and how best to modify massage to:
- Improve quality of life
- Reduce anxiety
- Help with the management of pain
- Improve quality of sleep
- Reduce fatigue
- Reduce unpleasant sensation from chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN)
- Increase function in areas affected by scar tissue resulting from surgery and radiation
- Reduce post-surgical swelling and support rehabilitation and recovery
- Support the lymph system
- Improve body awareness and image
An oncology massage session includes a compassionate touch and is often the first gentle touch a cancer patient experiences after the shock of cancer treatment. This type of compassionate touch is also appropriate for Hospice patients and those who are seriously ill.
Lymphatic Drainage
The lymphatic system is part of your immune system. Lymph fluid contains cellular waste. That lymph fluid moves from the interstitial space in the body and ultimately returns to your heart via a network of vessels and nodes. Sometimes a person can see visible swelling (edema) due to surgery, infections, and injury. Lymphatic drainage relieves swelling by gently moving excess fluid buildup away from tissues and toward lymph nodes.
A lymphatic session can be a stand-alone, gentle treatment, or built into a therapeutic massage.
Therapeutic Massage
Generally speaking, therapeutic massage means the therapist will reach into her massage toolbox to address a particular discomfort (for example, frozen shoulder, or a stiff neck). Sometimes a therapeutic massage means the whole body needs a relaxing touch. This massage relies a lot on the Swedish massage protocol, the basis for most massages offered in the West. Deep tissue is used where needed.
Meditation
Metta meditation can be offered as part of the massage experience. The basis for this form of meditation is to generate relaxation in the body, as well as loving kindness and compassion for oneself and others.
Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique
Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique (QHHT) is a powerful hypnosis tool developed by Dolores Cannon to access the deepest level of hypnosis to speak with the all-knowing part of ourselves. She called this aspect of ourselves the Subconscious, but it can also be called the Higher Self or even the Soul. QHHT enables people from any culture, religion or belief system to engage that all-knowing part of ourselves that is always connected to Source, or God. Your Higher Self has unlimited knowledge and ability to heal the mental and physical ailments rooted in trauma from the past. These ailments are connected to lessons being learned in a person’s present life, and the Higher Self can reveal the cause and often bring clarity and healing to the client. Seeking the unlimited assistance of the Higher Self, which knows every aspect of a person’s being, whether they are conscious of them or not, can help any person in amazing and unexpected ways.
